Lake Ontario REDI Projects Receive Tens of Millions in Funding

At a press conference held October 23rd at Old Fort Niagara State Park, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced $31.7 million in Niagara County projects will be funded through the State's Lake Ontario Resiliency & Economic Development Initiative or REDI program.  This includes projects in Lewiston, Youngstown, Wilson, Newfane, and Somerset.  The projects are designed to strengthen Niagara County's shoreline, while improving waterfront access and expanding economic activity.  The following projects will be funded through the REDI program.  More information on each project can be found here.

 

Lewiston
•  Lewiston Landing breakwall, walkway, floating docks, and utility upgrades

Youngstown
•  Breakwall, walkway, and floating docks

Wilson
•  Roosevelt Beach floating docks and boat ramp improvements
•  Waterfront sewer treatment plant decommissioning and shoreline stabilization measures
•  Wilson Harbor Lake Ontario pier improvements
•  Sunset Island West access road

Newfane
•  Olcott Harbor offshore breakwater
•  Olcott Harbor containment walls and walkway
•  Olcott Beach protective berm

Somerset
•  Town multi-use site shoreline stabilization and waterfront access improvements
•  YMCA Camp Kenan shoreline stabilization measures
