SBA Buffalo District Honors Marcus the Barber and Associates, LLC as 2026 Main Street Small Business of the Year
by U.S. Small Business AdministrationNEWFANE, NY — The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Buffalo District Office has named Marcus the Barber and Associates, LLC, located in Newfane, NY and owned by Marcus Hamilton, as the Buffalo District Main Street Small Business of the Year as part of National Small Business Week 2026, taking place May 3–9.
Each year, National Small Business Week recognizes the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. The SBA highlights businesses that demonstrate excellence in entrepreneurship, resilience, and community impact.
Mr. Hamilton has become a valued part of the community, demonstrating a strong commitment to customer service, business growth, and local engagement. He is always willing to sponsor or donate to a cause, he travels to customers who can’t physically come to his shop, and he has become more than just a barber to many of the young adults and clients who sit in his chair, he has also become a confidant and mentor. The business reflects the important role Main Street small businesses play in supporting local economies and strengthening community identity.
Marcus Hamilton received business advising and support from the Niagara Small Business Development Center (SBDC), an SBA resource partner hosted by SUNY Niagara. He worked with Maureen Henderson, Director of the Niagara SBDC, to access guidance and resources that supported the growth and development of his business.
In addition to recognizing award winners, the SBA Buffalo District Office will host events throughout National Small Business Week to connect entrepreneurs with resources, training, and opportunities to start, grow, and succeed.
Since 1963, the President of the United States has declared National Small Business Week to recognize small businesses as job creators, innovators, and drivers of economic growth.
