On June 15, 2021, Governor Cuomo announced that New York State reached the vaccination theshold of 70%, and the COVID-19 Business Re-opening Guidelines previously issued by the state were lifted.  The change reflects the elimination of social distancing, capacity limits, cleaning requirements, health screening and contact tracing in most commercial and social settings.

Businesses may still implement health precautions for their employees and patrons, including requiring the need for masks and social distancing.

New York State will also continue to follow the U. S. Center for Disease Control Prevention (CDC) guidelines, which require unvaccinated individuals to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.

The CDC policy of mask wearing at large-scale event venues, pre-K to 12 schools, public transit, homeless shelters, correctional facilities, nursing homes and health care settings will remain in effect.
